Opposition to Judicial Filibusters Just a Fad for Thad?

In 2005, with the furor over Senate Democrats' filibusters of federal judicial nominees at an all-time high, and with GOP leader Bill Frist threatening to begin proceedings to abolish the practice altogether, Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran said that he "advised the distinguished Majority Leader, Mr. Frist, that I will support him in his effort to bring this confrontation over judicial filibusters to an end."

On Tuesday, Sen. Cochran voted with 28 other Republicans in a failed attempt to filibuster Seventh Circuit nominee David Hamilton.
