SCOTUS to Conference Booker on Jan. 8

Mark your calendars, Mississippi Supreme Court nerds. The nation's high court will consider whether to grant certiorari in Booker v. Mississippi at its January 8 conference.

Booker, as loyal MSSC junkies will recall, was the October 2008 case in which the state's highest court affirmed the conviction of a man whose prosecutor struck a venireman during jury selection by telling the trial judge that the candidate had a drug conviction -- despite the fact that his office knew that to be incorrect.
